Redefining Beauty: Meet Amanda M.
You’ve already met Grace and Annette, both of whom we had the chance to meet at our International Women’s Day event in New York City last month. One of the other amazing women we met was Amanda M., founder of While Fat, a resource for plus-size travelers. She was very easy to talk to and very passionate about her projects (we can relate!). She was also wearing a super fun and fuzzy coat that we were all swooning over.
Hear more from our interview with Amanda:
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty means to me a love that you have for yourself that just shines through. It means this confidence that emerges when you need it most. I don't know about you but when I put a certain combination of my lipstick, lace bra and a great shoe I feel beautiful, strong and unstoppable. I think for so long Beauty was strictly all about the outer layer but now it is so much more than that. It is about a subtle power you have or the way you do something that is unique to you. I think that's what beauty is. It is something within you and it doesn't have to be the same for each person.
What is your favorite thing about Trusst and/or products?
What I loved most when I saw them in person was the feminity of them but that they were supportive. For such a long time being bigger-bodied meant we had to have frumpy clothes and our bras were just as frumpy or plain. I can't tell you how many white bras I had with a daisy on it because that is all I was able to get in my bra size.
With Trusst they offer you support and beauty in a bra. A bra should work for you but also should make you feel good because it helps carry you all day! It is literally the first thing we put on and the last thing we take off every day so it should be our favorite thing we own. It is an investment in ourselves but it took me a long time to understand that.
What does being comfortable mean to you and your life?
I feel the most comfortable when I am traveling and when I am in home wearing my sweats while cooking dinner with Real Housewives on in the background. Traveling puts me out of my comfort zone but in a way that is familiar to me. I love comfort but it is important to push myself because otherwise, I would end up doing the same thing over and over again. I like the variety in every way from the I travel to the bras I wear and even the foods I eat. I also love that being comfortable no longer means you have to sacrifice style.
Trusst was founded by women who challenged the traditional stereotypes of bra design - through engineering, physics, and product design that is not typically seen in the lingerie industry. However, that passion for challenge extends further than just through design; it resonates in the way you live your life as well as the way you perceive yourself and others around you.
We will continue to share stories of other women like Amanda who are redefining beauty. And we welcome you to share yours as well! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or share photos and tag us with #trusstyourself and #redefiningbeauty and we’ll feature you in an upcoming blog post.
Thanks for all of YOUR support of our brand and mission - we wouldn’t be here without you.
