My Breasts Are Asymmetrical...What Does That Mean?
So far, we’ve talked about bell-shaped breasts and wide-set breasts, but today we will be discussing asymmetrical breasts. This is probably the most common breast anomaly among women. Especially since this is less about the shape of your breasts and more the size. So you could actually have asymmetrical bell-shaped breasts. What does asymmetrical mean exactly (when it comes to your boobs)? Well, it means exactly what it sounds like...your breasts are simply not even. One is larger than the other (or smaller depending on how you look at it).
With asymmetrical breasts, the style of the bra isn’t going to matter as much as the size. When you have breasts that are different sizes, sometimes drastically, you will have to adjust your bra size to accommodate your larger breast. This usually means that you will have to size up in the cup in order to fit the larger breast. This is a good rule of thumb to follow in general when it comes to clothing, too. As we learned from “What Not To Wear”, you should always fit the largest part of your body and then adjust from there. That may mean adding a bra insert into your other cup...or really whatever works for you. You might even be able to go and have your bra altered to fit. Either way, this is going to be the better option than wearing a bra that your larger breast is overflowing out of...we know that’s not a good look (or feel) for anyone.
As we have mentioned in our previous posts, we don’t believe that your breast shape matters when it comes to finding the right bra. At the end of the day what we care about most is having a comfortable and supportive bra that fits. Trusst can help with all of the above! When it comes to finding your correct size, you will want to start by entering your measurements into our Size Calculator to find your Trusst size. Once you have that (and are satisfied with the results) you can start the fun part...shopping! Note: if you need some additional help with sizing, our Bra Experts are here to help you out.
Our favorite styles include our everyday Marjory t-shirt bra for when you are simply looking for something to wear for any occasion and be comfortable. If you are looking for more from your bra and you happen to have a lot of side boob (the worst!) we would suggest trying our Naomi convertible bra - it has a side mesh feature for extra coverage. Lastly, the newest addition to our collection is our Evie front closure bra, which allows you to easily get into your bra. She also has a racerback to make it easier to wear all of your favorite summer pieces.
As always, we encourage you to give a Trusst a bra a try. We are happy to support you through our stellar Bra Experts, our Size Calculator (to help determine your best size), and our Bra PhD page for all the details about our bras.
